The Nose Knows: Service Dogs with Aleisha Largent of Loyal Guardians

This week, we’re joined by Aleisha Largent and her dog Charlie. Aleisha represents Loyal Guardians, a nonprofit based in Delta that serves both civilians and veterans across the Western Slope—from Telluride to Grand Junction. Loyal Guardians is on a mission to make service dogs more accessible through financial support and training resources. They also work to educate the public and local businesses about what service dogs do—and why they’re so essential. In this conversation, we get into the reasons someone might need a service dog, the difference between service animals and emotional support animals, and just how powerful a dog’s sense of smell really is. Aleisha also talks about the deep psychological connection between humans and dogs, and how that bond becomes part of the support system. Don't miss it!
